39.9km to Santiago de Compostela
20.2km to O Pedrouzo
This is a shorter and easier walk after the hills between Melide and Arzúa. Whatever the weather, enjoy every step, as you will reach Santiago tomorrow. Walking through narrow lanes and wooded areas, you will be treated to picturesque scenery. It is reminiscent of Cornwall in England or Brittany in France—Celtic neighbours. The lush surroundings provide a serene and thoughtful backdrop for the day's trek. Rest stops are frequent, offering opportunities to refresh, recharge and take in the surroundings.
While the allure of reaching Santiago may be strong, you should consider your options carefully after reaching Pedrouzo. There is very little accommodation until Lavacolla, an extra 10 kilometres away, or Monte do Gozo, an additional 15 kilometres away. Walking to Lavacolla or Monte Gozo makes for a long day. However, it does allow an early start and early arrival into Santiago tomorrow if that is what you would like to do.
Note that the Camino leaves Arzúa along a path (off to the left) and not the main road.

⬇︎ 1.7km (34.5km) Burres 🍽️ 🛏️
⬇︎ 2.7km (31.8km) Outeiro 🍽️ 🛏️
⬇︎ 3.4km (28.4km) Salceda 🍽️ 🛏️ ➕🚌
Take care when walking by and crossing the main road here.
You leave the village on a path to the right and not on the road.
⬇︎2.8km (25.6km) A Brea 🍽️ 🛏️ 🚌
⬇︎1.8km (23.8km) Empalme 🍽️ 🛏️ 🚌
The Camino crosses the road again. After the Albergue, you turn right and return to a quieter lane. This is far preferable to walking along the road.
⬇︎1.2km (22.6km) Santa Irene 🍽️ 🛏️ 🚌
⬇︎1.2km (21.4km) A Rua 🍽️ 🛏️
Leaving A Rua, you walk up a small hill and come again to the main road. If you are staying in O Pedrouzo, you should turn left here and follow the road into the town. Otherwise, cross the road as the Camino continues on paths and lanes.

O PEDROUZO
O Pedrouzo, also known as Arca, is a relatively modern town on the Camino de Santiago. Thankfully, it is less busy than Arzúa, making eating and drinking outside at one of the many bars and cafes along the main street more pleasurable.
Recent excavations have unearthed a pilgrim cemetery believed to have been associated with the Hospital de Santa Eulalia de Arca, although no traces of the hospital remain today. To reach the main street of O Pedrouzo, you must take a brief detour off the Camino. It is, therefore important to rejoin the Camino when leaving and not follow the main road.
As the last major stopping point on the Camino Francés before reaching Santiago de Compostela, Pedrouzo sees a surge in pilgrim traffic, especially during peak seasons. Due to the high demand for accommodation, with a bit of a heavy heart, I recommend booking in advance to secure a place to rest for the night.
You are less than 20km from your destination.
PRACTICALITIES
1. Accommodation: O Pedrouzo is well provided for, but consider booking ahead during peak season.
2. Transportation: Regular buses operate through O Pedrouzo, with connections to Santiago and the airport operated by MonBus and AlsaBus.
3. Dining: There are plenty of dining options.
4. Facilities: Reasonable selection of small shops. ATM. Pharmacy etc.
